ABOUT JOHN ROBERT WHITNEY
I've been an active singer/songwriter and performing musician since my early teens. I'm a baritone vocalist with a decent falsetto range. I play guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, cornet, mountain dulcimer, accordion, recorder, harmonica, autoharp, and a number of other instruments.
Musical styles and interests include folk, Celtic, country, Americana, jazz, blues, pop, alternative. Composition and recording tools include Forte, Sibelius, Band in a Box and Audacity. I retired from a nearly 40 year career with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (formerly the Soil Conservation Service). I continue to work part-time and gig regularly. I also enjoy photography and nearly daily strolls with my wife, Laura, through area parks and natural areas.

I perform regularly in a mix of solo, duos and small ensemble settings: house & garden parties, special occasions, holidays, background music, with or without vocals.
ACCOMPANIMENT
I'm happy to be a "side man" in live performances or on recordings. That includes both instrumental and vocal harmony options.
